La Venexiana, the highly esteemed Italian vocal ensemble, earned its reputation for its meticulous and authentic readings of Monteverdi madrigals. Its production of the composer’s first opera, “Orfeo” (aka “L’Orfeo, favola in musica”), is a curious blend of period sensibilities and contemporary waywardness.
