Sunday’s performance of _Die Meistersinger von Nuernberg_ concluded the Munich Opera Festival 2005. Tobias Hell of Merkur-Online praises conductor Peter Schneider for his precision and avoidance of false pathos. Jan-Hendrik Rootering as Hans Sachs may have lacked full vocal authority, but the remainder of the cast was convincing. Eike Wilm Schulte is particularly noteworthy for his giving shape to the role of Beckmesser.
