Mozart birthday celebrations are everywhere – have you heard?
This year marks the 250th celebration of his birth. While most groups are satisfied to trot out a concerto or a wind trio to celebrate, the Handel & Haydn Society decided to do it right last night at Symphony Hall, with an all-Mozart program of arias and choruses from his operas ìIdomeneoî and ìMagic Flute,î as well as incidental music from ìThamos, King of Egyptî and a modern-day premiere of music from a lost ballet, ìAscanio in Alba.î
