Opening a new opera house with Wagnerís Der Ring des Nibelungen would seem an event charged with hubris. If the Canadian Opera Company recently did just that, it stemmed more from the fortuitous convergence of two long-term projects than from an audacious decision to inaugurate the Four Seasons Performing Arts Centre with operaís supreme musical and theatrical challenge.
