Covent Garden finally hauls itself aboard the Tippett centenary bandwagon with painful reluctance, but I really wish it hadnít bothered. The Midsummer Marriage may not be the greatest opera, but it canít possibly be as bad as this revival of Graham Vickís 1996 production makes it look.
