LOS ANGELES, May 26 ó The 20th-anniversary season of the Los Angeles Opera was supposed to culminate on Saturday night with the premiere of “Grendel,” a new opera by the composer Elliot Goldenthal, directed by Julie Taymor, who is also a co-librettist with the poet J. D. McClatchy.
