The New York Philharmonic under Alan Gilbert moved in three directions on Thursday. The concert began with hum-along Mozart, the Symphony No.?40, and then surveyed the heartbreak of Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder. The big news, however, involved a local premiere: Thomas AdËs’s In Seven Days.
