A few things were supposed to be newsworthy about the Metropolitan Operaís first ìToscaî of the season on Saturday night. It was to be the first Tosca of the American soprano Andrea Gruber, and she was to wear the stage jewels Swarovski made for Maria Callasís first Met Tosca in 1956.
