Danielle de Niese has withdrawn from the Glyndebourne Festival 2023 production of Dialogues des Carmélites. Sally Matthews will take over the role of Blanche, returning to Glyndebourne after several successful engagements.
Sally Matthews is recognised as one of the foremost lyric sopranos of her generation, her international career encompassing the opera, concert and recital stages, collaborating with many of the world’s leading artists and conductors. Most recently she made her role debut as The Marschallin in a new production of Der Rosenkavalier at La Monnaie in Brussels. Her notable engagements at the Glyndebourne Festival include the role of Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and the title role in Rusalka.
Dialogues des Carmélites will be performed at Glyndebourne Festival 2023 between 10 June and 29 July 2023.
